The documents found here are for Molonglo Stage 2 Transport Planning related information between 2010-2019 and were obtained through FOI 21-101215 1 April 2021, EPSDD. We highlighted 18 development plans (EDP), planning design frameworks (PDF), or development applications (DA) for the suburbs Coombs, Wright, Molonglo and Denman Prospect.
Molonglo Group Centre, planned for the new suburb of Molonglo, is part of Molonglo Valley Stage 2. Read more here. You cannot build a group centre without all services, including a sewer. The provision of these services is discussed below.

Denman Prospect staging
The staging of Denman Prospect is not well understood. Denman Prospect Stage 1 (made up of 1A and 1B) is completed. The development application for Stage 2 North (Denman North) was released in 2021. The trees have already been felled in this area awaiting construction. The southern section of Stage 2 will follow. Stage 3 will need to await the construction of the John Gorton Drive Bridge that could be finished as early as 2025.

Molonglo Valley Stage 2 Planning Design Framework
The Molonglo Valley Stage 2 Planning Design Framework, August 2011, is one of the most interesting documents because it covers the Molonglo Group Centre area.
How wide are the community paths?
Denman Prospect Stage 1A paths
The community paths are 1.5m (black lines), 2m (purple) or 2.5m (blue) wide in Denman Prospect Stage 1A (south of the Ridge Reserve). The path beside the school on the north side is 3m (green) wide. Minimum bike path widths from the ACT Active Travel Standard (2018) is 3.5m for new estates.
9 Cycle and Pedestrian Systems
9.1 Trunk Paths
A 3.0m wide trunk path is proposed on the southern side of Road 1 along the frontage of the school site. This path provides a linkage to John Gorton Drive, the proposed Molonglo Commercial Centre, and to the Molonglo River further east.
All minor collector roads include 2.5m wide paths on both sides of the road.
Road 14 (ed. green line in on the map below – Goldbloom Street) is intended to be a pedestrian and cyclist priority street creating an east to west link across Denman Prospect. This path will continue through stage 1B to Cravens Creek in the west and John Gorton Drive to the east. The gradients for this path will be 5 percent or less and link to a proposed bus stop on road 27 (Stage 1B) and the open space in stage 1B.
9.2 Intermediate Paths
A 2.0m wide shared path is proposed along one side of all Access Street B’s.
A multi-use path will be provided in the open space along the southern and western perimeter of the Estate. This path will provide links to John Gorton Drive, the Molonglo River, the proposed school sites, Uriarra Road and Stromlo Forest Park. The gradients for this path will be 5 percent or less.
9.3 Minor Paths
Minor paths are provided on both verges of all Access Street A’s and on one side of all Access Street B’s. These paths are all 1.5m wide and are located 1.2m offset from the block boundary in accordance with the typical crosssections for Denman Prospect Stage 1A.
A path network is provided across the entire estate linking all roads directly with open space areas, nature reserves, school(s), and adjacent path networks.

Coombs community paths
The Coombs community paths are 15.m or 2m wide which makes them generally narrower than those in Denman Prospect. Only the Fred Daly Avenue central corridor has 2m wide paths. All the side streets are only 1.5m width. Minimum bike path widths from the ACT Active Travel Standard (2018) is 3.5m for new estates.

Molonglo suburb sewer
You cannot build a suburb without sewer. The suburb of Molonglo falls into three sewer catchment areas. The western catchment is that belonging to Denman Prospect, the southern catchment is that belong to Coombs. The central catchment is neither west (north) or south, and it not clear where it goes.

The southern catchment flows towards Coombs past Holdens Creek Pond (see the red line on the map below).

We would expect a trunk sewer connection to the west (Butters Bridge). The FOI 21_52222 The Panel`s Advice, Molonglo Valley First Session (Molonglo Group Centre and Surrounds Planning Framework, National Capital Design Review Panel, 11 June 2021, 12) would suggest the sewer currently does not exist and is dependent on the John Gorton drive extension. The staging for Molonglo is below.
Stage 1B
(ed. middle area either side of John Gorton Drive)
Master Planning for sewer, water supply, stormwater, traffic for Stage 2. Construction of sewer and stormwater through Stage 2. Master planning for future road connections to Stage 2 and 4. Interim WSUD/OSD requirements for section draining to Pond A in Stage 4. Significant excess spoil material.Stage 2
(ed. far western corner – left)
Extension of John Gorton Drive.Stage 3
FOI 21-52222 The Panel`s Advice, Molonglo Valley First Session, Molonglo Group Centre and Surrounds Planning Framework, National Capital Design Review Panel, 11 June 2021, 12.
(ed. top corner)
Extension of John Gorton Drive. Connection of sewer to the west of John Gorton Drive. Extension of Extra Low Pressure Zone water main from Western Low Pressure Zone. Significant excess spoil material.
