The ACT Projects Pipeline gives you and idea what the ACT Government (Major Projects Canberra) thinks will be coming up. For cycling there is not much new here, except the 2022 ACT Household Travel Survey has officially started, 5 years after the last survey. Good news.

Never heard of it? It is worth knowing about. TCCS announcements are few and far between.

Three estate developments are currently under construction after a quiet year in 2021.

The Projects Pipeline contains a register of planned procurement activities required to deliver the ACT Government’s budget funded capital works program.

The Project Pipeline is limited to construction related procurement opportunities. Tenders ACT contains a list of non-construction related forecast procurements, primarily for goods and/or services.

Major Projects pipeline 2022-23

Unless the contract type is “construction” nothing is being built yet. The term “estate development” could mean different things but likely construction of services and road for the SLA. The rough sequences is:

Definitions

Total Project Value ($): The value range for the delivery of the entire project. This will include government delivery costs, insurances, levies, consultant fees, design fees and construction fees. This figure is included as a guide.  Where the Territory is currently unable to identify a Project Value it is identified as ‘NFP’ (Not For Publication).

Indicative Procurement Package Value ($): The value range for the procurement package of planned as part of the project. Where the Territory is currently unable to identify a Indicative Package Value it is identified as ‘NFP’ (Not For Publication).

Prequalification Level (Financial): Indicative Prequalification Financial Level associated with the procurement

Prequalification Category: Indicative Prequalification Category(ies) associated with the procurement

Procurement Approach: Describes how the Territory will approach the market. Options are:

– Open: The package will be advertised on Tenders ACT
– Panel: The package will be released under an existing or new panel
– Select: The package will be released to a select group of suppliers
– REOI: Request for Expression of Interest will be called to enable short-listing of Suppliers
– Various: Primarily used for programmes of works with multiple small procurements which may be released as a mixture of Open, Panel or Select tenders
– TBA: the procurement approach is not known
– (IB) indicates an Industry Briefing will be held in advance or as part of the procurement process.

Category of Work: The type of services being procured.

District: The primary District within which any physical work will occur.

Project Type: The primary type of infrastructure being delivered.

Lead Agency: The ACT Government Directorate responsible for the delivery of the Project.

Indicative Procurement Package Start Date: The indicative date the procurement package will be released to market.

Released to Market: Whether the procurement activity has commenced.

Major Projects pipeline 2021-22

An interesting list of upcoming projects in the ACT in 2021-2022 (stand 20 Jul 2021), including the new suburbs of Jacka (Gungahlin) and Whitlam (Molonglo Valley), and duplications such as Athllon Drive. The list is sorted by procurement start. Indicative package values are included for most projects (others are marked Not For Publication ie NFP)

Despite package values of less than $0.5 million, there are no cycling projects in this list. Any major cycling project planned in 2021-2022 should be found here. The list was update long after the 2020 ACT Election. As far as cycling is concerned, this cannot be seen in a positive light.
