We must remain sceptical of consultations. The consultation for (ACT) Ten Year Master Plan Trunk Cycling and Walking Path Infrastructure 2004, shows us that the recommendations have still not be implemented 18 years later. The process in 2004 has an eerie familiarity to the 2021 District Planning consultations.

2012 ACT Strategic Cycling Network Plan, Spackman Mossop Michaels
“Separation of cyclists and motorists is paramount to increasing cyclists numbers.” Most cyclist do not feel safe riding on the road, and Austroads agrees with them. The 2012 ACT Strategic Cycle Network Plan (FOI 20-030) by Spackman Mossop Michaels makes clear that cycle lanes are a mistake. Furthermore, ACT achievements between between 2012 and 2022, shows that cycling network has made little progress. Cause for concern!
40 km/h zone rollout confusion
Belconnen Town Centre has been trialling 40 km/h zones for over two years. The rollout to other town centre is causing confusion as commuters notice the changes.
